:Salute hello everybody!!! ive just joined this forum as im a "mature" trainee spark! ive been a service engineer for the past 20 years mostly electrical appliances.i now work for the local council repairing industrial cleaning machines.anyway the department i work for also does air conditioning, electrical installations, gas etc etc training is encouraged!! :) so ive always had an interest in becoming an electrican,so at 37 ive decided to go for it!i have my end of first year exam one week today!!!! c&g 2330 electrical installation .very nervous!! ive recently passed my 17th edition wiring regs.my cscs card exam and my appliance inspection and testing exam (pat testing!) has anybody done the 1st year 2330 exam?how hard was it???? :C

Firstly welcome to the forum,

I've just done my exams for this course, and as you've said you've done your 17th edition etc then you should have no problem what so ever (from what I've heard, the 17th edition is harder? :| ) and I've got mine to come  . Just look at your notes, do a little bit of revision and you'll be fine. I'm sure its four multiple choice exams and not 1 "end of year" exam, unless it's done different with you :C

If it is just the first of four, then it will be the 201-

17 Questions on Health and Safety

3 Questions on the Structure of Industry

10 Questions on Regulations/Structure of Industry

But good luck in whatever format your exam is, I'm sure you'll be fine.

many thanks for the positive replies!!! i have done a "mock" exam tonight and to be honest, although i had the joint top score i only scored 20 out of 30!!!! the questions were really hard, and our trainer said we would of all failed!???? you would not believe the questions asked!!!!including fulcrum points, sine waves etc etc surely this aint year one stuff?????????

Welcome to the forum....

bin ages since I did my exams...

but sines waves and stuff sounds like basic electrical principles that are needed at the the early stages of a course!

Welcome to the forum bigladspark,

Im 40 and also at college 2330 part 2 even classes it sound like you are sitting the module 202 exam , I have had mine tonight and it was nothing like what I was expecting it was worse so I can sympathise with you.

My advice revise all the areas you are not confident with I only had 1 resistor circuit question , but I know for sure I failed on one of the effency , there was a few bonding questions some HSE questions but mainly it was the basic principles, I am sure you have the Heinnemann 2330 Level 2 book read the enitre second section.

1 other huge piece of advice RELAX, I am sure you will do OK on the night just take your time and go over the questions until you are sure of your answer.

Oh 1 other peice of advice READ THE QUESTIONS CAREFULLY.

Hello and welcome, from previous posts it looks like you are in good company.

You've made the best start by joining here :)

Theres a great bunch of guys here who are really helpful.

Well done, I would like to point out that you need the ECS and not the CSCS card for electrical work. Look in the JIB website, more money to pay out
