I'm new to the forum and have just been made redundant after 11yrs work in the Merchant Navy. After a lot of thought I've started studying to become an electrician as my new career. I don't expect to walk straight into a job when qualified but I'm going to put everything into my theory and practical to become the best I can be and gain necessary experience. I will hopefully use this forum a lot in the future to gain extra knowledge and guidance. Any tips or suggestions are very welcome.

Welcome aboard Kev. It's always a good idea to get to know any local electricians to yourself, ask if you can go out on some jobs with them as a labourer at first and see what happens after that. You will learn lots and everyday will bring new challenges. Studying at college is one thing but being out on the tools is where you really learn the trade. Good luck with your learning and I hope you find this forum helpful as I have.
