Hi, Ive stumbled across this forum asking questions elsewhere.

I'm a qualified electrician to 16th and and in these hard times was looking at improving my cv.

I've been looking at doing the 2391 and was wondering the best way to go about it? I've seen courses spread over 12-15 weeks, 1 night a week and courses that last 4-5 days. I know how to test and do so occasionly so i'm fine on the practical side.

would it be worth me updating to the 17th prior to this or is there no need?

Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome

Doing your 17th seems wise and not so much work if you have the 16th.

I'm not a spark - so don't really know. Others will

:D

Hello Hurricane....

welcome...

suddenly got a bit windy in here!!!! :O:O:^O

how old is your 16th qualification?

you can do a 17th edition as either 1 or 2 day update if 16th is recent?

should cost no more than around

Hello & welcome Hurricane.

If you gained 16th (C&G 2380) pre 2001 then you'll need to do the full C&G 2382-10 17th ed course

If you gained the 16th post 2001 then you can do the C&G 2382-20 update course.

The C&G2391 (so far as I know) has now been split:

C&G2391-10...Enable you to become conversant with the requirements for Inspection, Testing and Reporting of existing electrical installations.

C&G2391-20.... (formerly the C&G2400) Design, Erection and initial Verification of Electrical Installations.

This is the new test/inspection that was formerly part of the old 2391:

City & Guilds 2392-10 Fundamental Inspection,Testing and Initial Verification. It is a dumbed down test/inspec course aimed at new peeps in the trade such as vrq 5 day training course types.

"This qualification aims to introduce candidates to the Initial Verification of electrical installations. It is designed for candidates with little or no previous experience of inspection and testing. Successful completion of this course allows the candidate to inspect and test their own work." (taken from a training college write up)

Hello & Welcome to the forum. It's good to have you onboard. :D
