Hi folks,

Name's Tom, 50+ years old, originally a watchmaker by trade but took up the electrickery late in life intending to do some improvements around the house during my (now cancelled) retirement. The only formal training I have is a domestic installer's course about 3 years ago and my experience doesn't go beyond little domestic installs and repairs. I've been delving through these forums for a some time now, trying to improve my knowledge and got a lot of good, useful information out of them so thought it was about time I actually posted something myself even if it's only to say hello and ask the occasional question. I'd have thought watch repairs would have paid better! Last time I used one it cost me £7.50 for 2 of the metal spring clips fitted to a watch strap I owned! Took him all of 60 seconds, including payment!

£7.50 for two spring bars? Now that's a businessman! I'd have done that for nowt and pointed you in the direction of the charity box ... but then maybe that's why I'm not in the business any more.
