Help I cant find leak

Hi am new to the forum and in need of some advice as I think am going insane.2 weeks ago I could hear water running behind my boxed in pipes kitchen. It got worse and started spurting out of the plaster. Switched boiler and water off and opened the pipes.called plumber and he couldn't find nothing. My husband took the plaster away and wall was soaking and paint peeled off in places .nothing has happened since and walls have started to dry out .so that's 2 weeks ago and nothing else has happened but I can hear noise on a night as if my heating is on but it's not and cant sleep for it .Its making me so stressed and anxious I hope someone can help me I would be so grateful . Are you in a old property? It is possible that the hessian has been disturbed and the copper is touching concrete and has eaten into copper causing a slight leak. 
 

have a look at the gauge on the boiler, the needle should be between 1 & 1.5 when cold. If it is below this it may be that you have had a leak and can now hear the air escaping after heating been on. Your boiler should lock out if pressure becomes too low. 
did the plumber check any of this

Just to be clear, have you switched the boiler and water back on?

Is it a combi system or do you have cold water tanks up in the loft and a hot water cylinder.

If combi does the pressure drop off on the boiler gauge?

When you stripped the boxed in section, is there any pipe joints?

Could the water have ran to area or has it “ jetted” to that point as from a burst joint or pipe itself.

You will probably only find this leak if system is all pressurised.

We do have a wealth of experience on this forum and like to help but our specialised subject is electrics.

PS it would drive me mad as well if I thought I had a leak, in fact it did only last week and I found a leaking joint under the floor.

I was doing an electrical job in a house last week and the customer asked me to "listen" in the kitchen - there was the sound of running water, but nothing was visible - all I could tell is that it appeared to be coming from behind the built in oven.

So I took the oven out and then could see a "spray" of water coming from a pipe.

So I called a plumber mate who came and sorted it.

NB: They had had a plumber in before me who didn't trace the issue!

Moral of story - get a 2nd plumber in

I was standing in my kitchen when suddenly I could  hear  water  running  down  my  wall  behind boxed in pipes. Turned boiler and water  off and called plumber. Took plasterboard off covering pipes and was soaking. Turned heating and water back on and nothing. Plumber couldn't find anything and left and asked me to keep an eye on things but still nothing and that was just over 2 weeks ago . The only thing I can hear is as if my heating is on when it's not like the sound when radiators come on. Can anyone help please. Thanks .

Thanks for your reply.  Yes switched boiler and water back on. The pressure on my boiler is reading 1 to1.5.

I forgot to say yes there are pipe joints but isn't coming from there .it was running down the back of my tiles aswell and my electric tripped.

Just a thought. Is your boiler over-pressure relief valve drain properly connected to outside the building?  Could your intermittent "leak" actually be the boiler over pressurising and venting?

Think it is time to keep looking up the wall until you find the leak.

I am not sure that much more can be achieved over the internet on a problem like this. Bit like asking for help to find your lost car keys. Without being there and physically looking at the actual situation its all just guesswork and speculation.
