I have an old phone I was given, a Samsung GT-I9000
It's on an old version of Android, 2.6.29
It works as a phone and for texts on a PAYG sim. It will connect to the internet via our wifi at home.
BUT there are some issues with it:
The USB port does not work properly, e.g I can't transfer pictures or music files.
It won't connect to the play store, it tells me "no network". Our other phones and tablets will connect to the play store via wi fi, but this one seem intent on using the phone network instead and I can't find the right setting to tell it not to be so stupid.
I want to load a chart plotter application. I have downloaded the install file (from the internet) but it says "parse error" when I try and install it so I assume it's telling me the OS is too old?
So with that information, and the possibly dodgy USB port, is there any way to update the phone to a newer version of Android?
