Hi,

My girlfriend has the above alarm in her house and she reports that it's never really worked since she moved in. It's pretty ancient and she's not too bothered about it.

There was a powercut the other night which set it off and we now can't switch off the alarm from sounding. I've tried disconnecting the battery but this hasn't worked.

I have managed to silence it by unpugging the speaker but are there any disadvantages to this as a quick fix?

I guess it'll still be drawing a small amount of current but I'm more concerned about any safety implications such as shorting out/overheating etc (as you can probably tell electrics aren't my strongpoint!)

Can anyone offer a better solution? Thanks

ps - I've taken pics of it but have tried and failed to upload them

Thanks for the reply :)

I guessed as much when the disconnecting the battery trick didn't work........

If I managed to load the pics up d'you think you'd be able to point me in the right direction??

You want to look for the fused connection unit, should be some where near the panel, and take the fuse out of that. Below is a very common FCU
