I don't usual go on forums and my grammer is quite bad so i do apologise.

I started to do a train at home course and got my part p, 17th edition and my city and guild 2382-10.

I then went on to work along side an experienced electrician for 2 years where i learned majority of domestic work, since then i've been doing agency work on mainly commerical sites.

I have been asked by several people about doing work for them such as new sockets, lights and now a fuse board. i was hoping of getting some advice on what i'd need to do or get to be able to do these jobs legally and how i sign off my work or if i can.

i'd be thankful for and help/advice.

Pete

BS7671 wiring regulations gives guidance as to what work practices are acceptable for installing safe electrical installations.

Including model forms of the essential test and certificates required for various types of work..

Have another read of BS7671 including the On-Site-Guide and Guidance note 3...

Part P is a "Building regulation".. one of many..  NOT an electrical qualification...

If you read your copy of Approved document P it will explain the various procedures for doing notifiable work.

If you are doing work for yourself you will need appropriate insurance AND you will need to tell the TAXMAN you are now undertaking self employed work.

The bulk of what you can and cannot do, SHOULD have been covered in your course..??

If it was not I would be asking for a refund or the rest of the training they missed off!!

Surely the point of paying for some training is so that answers to these basic questions are known!!
