Hi Noob here need help I am having trouble with a 3 phase problem I have repaired equipment but not installed much 3 phase I need to fit two pumps, all the company sent me is its 3 phase 400v each pump( 2 pumps running simultaneously) and has a max 2.4kw with rating 5.3A I need to know the cable size as run is 80meters and what mcb I would need. I have a spare 3 phase slot in a mem board any help appreciated Thanks.

Not far away though Steps.

2400W @ 400V nominal 3ph, with a bit of poor efficiency and rubbish PF on a cheap pump could easily make 5.4A per phase I suspect!

, all the company sent me is its ........

Are you an employee of the said company...

Or are you contracting to the company ???

If an employee I would get back onto your boss to check on who is taking responsibility for the design aspect of the work ?

As has been said the load and the cable length are only some of the factors you need to design the circuit..

Installation methods, ambient temperature, cable grouping etc..

will have a significant impact on cable capacity as well.

Appendix 4 (page 305 onward big green book) gives loads of relevant tables..

Welcome to the forumbulator..
