I have just recently purchased a pair of 1968 Bowers & Wilkins P2H speakers, they are about 4 foot tall and use an 13" x 8" speaker but it does not use a tweeter instead it uses an arc of electricity which is modulated so as to give off sound.
At the moment I have fitted conventional tweeters and I must say they sound fantastic.
The original units have been removed as they were prone to burning out after a few years of use so I have gone on the net to firstly try and get hold of these somewhere and it is amazing that there is company's which have now bought out newer versions of these, just think that smell of ozone in your living room.
UTUBE has loads of DIY versions and projects but the best is at this link

This is a guy who has a Tesla coil in his living room modulates it with his electric guitar, he must be mad but really full of adrenalin while playing,
As I have said a future project is to get my ones up & running.
