There was a load that failed QC but still got send out a while back. Probably worse ATM due to the current financial climate.

A Colleague of mine holds the cable in his left hand , then uses his sideys in his right hand to crease the outer sheath then pushes the sheath off (while the sideys are still nipping )with the thumb of his left hand. He then strips both the live and neutral pvc off the conductors both at the same time using the same method. He then fits the earth sleeving(for a ring cct) on the cpcs then holds the cpcs using his thumb and does this strange spinning thing which twists the cpcs together at the end in about a second. He was on piece work for years......Hes real fast!

Twisting the earths together , eh not seen that done for a while.

As for stripping T/E .... snip the end , grip conductor, earth and half the sheathing with sideys, grip other conductor and sheathing with hand and pull apart .

Also rip the earth wire down , never encountered a problem with it being "stretched" I think thats college talk TBH.

Some of the 10mm and 16mm is tough stuff , run Stanley down the sheath, in the centre , where the earth wire is.

As for stripping the conductors, I use CK sidecutters with the notches in , or an old pair with a 2.5 blow hole in them .

As others, I snip the end then tear down the CPC. This method guarantees you don't nick the insulation of the conductors anywhere.

I use a pair of side cutters for stripping T&E it's what you get used to and it looks neat too after all the practice I've had with them..

I would guess some members get frustrated by the same question being asked by people who could have used the search facility..
Maybe it's time to dump the search facility? There can't be any original questions left to ask by now.
