pete,

Just checked, BEEN HERE GOT THE T SHIRT!

What is your question or issue mate?

I have lost mine, but you could try your Health & Safety department of your local authority, (these functions are often part of the environmental health department) they are responsible for small Motor Vehicle Repair Premises. What are you curious about? May be able to help, have a few weird qualifications, including some in H&S.

nsbs,

Same here mate, thing is this doc had some very useful guidance that was not outdated but, it was withdrawn by HSE & replaced.

The guidance it provided, whilst still valid was not repeated in the new publications.

Hence why I asked peter what he was after!

no issues, but i have to price for one being built near me and just needed to check i am designing correctly. I do know that ever thing has to be above 1m from FFL and the wiring system should be in metal trunking/conduit and flex to feed the motors for the lifts and to arrange the lighting as to avoid stroboscopic effects, no hand lamps unless <50v, luminaires in pits to be 1m from floor level and IP 66, no provision for tools/lamps. all i wanted to do was check i am not missing anything!

You MUST get your customer to classify the hazardous areas under DSEAR BEFORE you can design ANYTHING.

Unless you are competent and covered to undertake design work to DSEAR regulations.

Pits are generally hazardous areas if petrol vehicles are involved.

This is NOT as simple as it used to be!!!

As I said earlier, been there done that!

Lost the job as mine was compliant with all statutory legislation competitors was not, client did not care!

The choice is yours.

You could try HSG261, Health and safety in motor vehicle repair and associated premises. This covers a range of topics including electrical safety. Your LA should be able to advise you with a an appropriate guidance note.

If I can I will upload a copy in PDF format to the download section, give me a couple of minutes

I have uploaded the file, it will have to be approved by another mod or admin I think before you can download it.

Wrong file uploaded, this is just an outlined guide and not the full document, my mistake sorry all.

I have loads of files never used but still on my PC, oddly enough my saving techniques gives full names to partial files :(

Admin,

That is the current guidance document, thing was with the old one there were some good tips in there, though, it is no longer current guidance!

That should help the OP.

Our only hope then; Sidewinder, is that Manator finds his PDF copy. :)
