So its not to grow anything illegal but one of my elderly customers want to put some plug in devices in his green house so as and when the temperature drops, the heaters come on - any suggestions for something suitable for a hot / cold / damp / dry environment?

This "device" needs to sit between the sockets and a fused spur

Thanks

My late farther in law wanted heating in his greenhouse for his tomato seedlings. So I built a hot bed for him. The first electricity bill arrived and it doubled that quarters consumption.

Tubular heaters are useless in a greenhouse, all the heat is lost. Later I used Reychem heat tape in the “hot bed”, I wouldn’t say it was great success but it worked in a sort of fashion.

Frank (FiL) also grew chrysanthemum flowers to show at competitions, that’s another story.

I use a fan heater with inbuilt thermostat carefully set to about 2 or three degrees. It doesn’t seem to have a drastic effect on our bills, but we are in a fairly mild  climate area.
