Hi,

Can anyone ID this for me. What does it do? Its in a office building toilets. Think it may be something to do with extraction as theres ducting in the voids which connect to vents in the ceiling above cubicles.

Anyone know what this is?

Thanks

Brilliant, Graham, wish I'd thought of that - I'm still laughing now - the cat thinks I've gone mad!

I think a pic will be forthcomming, in the meantime I would hazard a guess that it is part of the air management/heating system, often extraction of air was taken from annexe rooms including toilets and recirculated through the heating system or diverted to the outside via the exhaust.

Sorry guys how thick of me

Thanks everyone for the replies. There is metal ducting above the drop ceiling in a void above. They want better extraction of smellys so was looking for a decent extractor fan but the problem is where to extract to. I dont think it will be possible to vent into the metal ducting as it may cause problems for the air management system ? its not possible to connect into this is it?

Thanks

Yeah its not working lol. If i vented into the existing ducting do you recon it will just be extracting the smell to somewhere else in the air management system and not out the exhaust?

Cheers

I would leave this in place if it is still connected to the vent system, and fit if possible a direct seperate vent and fan to an outside wall. If there is enough void above I would go for an inline fan with a splitter or Y junction and use two vents dependant on the size of the toilet block. 9" units are cheap enough these days.

Its going to be impossible to get to an outside wall. Venting the smell into the void is a no no. Any other suggestions? Thanks
