Yes thats fine M, plenty of clinics have locked powerpoints dedicated for mobile screening units etc

Is there a guide to show what is likely to produce an excess of 10mA. If you dont have the specs for particular equip then how do you know? How much IT equip constitutes an excess of 10mA? Does a large house with a study and various domestic IT equip have an excess of 10mA?
A reasonable amount of domestic stuff is Double insulated, and smaller power requirement than you big commercial IT applications..

e.g. Laptops & some printers have low voltage power-packs to supply the equipment... these have a Plastic earth pin just to open the socket shutters!

So No earth leakage on these. Leakage more common on Screens, and desktop PCs. those with the big standard euro-connection mains leads.

Also a lot of home entertainment stuff is also double insulated.. two core flex.. No earths leaking.

It is more of an office & commercial installation issue.

:)

There are many new 17th dual rcd DBs but not all of them are called high integrity, its just the ones with dual rcd AND a position for a single rcbo.Anyway has the need for extra earth terminals been addressed

Another thing, our firm have decided, that it is not a problem if we have to install a db on its side being that the Hager one is 19" wide and understairs cupboards are quite tight. Does anyone have a problem with this?
This one will be going till the Cows come home..

Personally I wouldn't.. because most domestic MCB's etc.. have the writing printed in the direction it is expected to be mounted..

But technically it will still work!

and it could be more accessible!

It could be argued it would be more appropriate to select a commercial type board which is design to be vertical?

The only area of Non-Compliance would be ...

IHMO

Manufactures instructions to be followed...

which way do the little pictures on the bit of paper you throw away say it should be fitted? ?:| ;) ?:| :p :)

or you could cut a velux window in the stairs for it to poke out of! :^O :^O:^O

Specs - congrats on post #37. Even I understand it now.

Was something I had been meaning to ask for a while!

In the broadcasting industry, all outside broadcast vehicles have an rcd (normally 100ma)

It does sound like high harmonisation in the neutral.

Shouldn't the functional conductors brought to the socket's second 'hi-integ' terminals be cream coloured? V good explanation of the subject Spec Loc.Applaud Smiley

Back to the mobile, would it be possible to source an 'off-standard' plug/skt combination, physically to prevent any other equipment on the site being inserted into the outlet? mind you it's probably altogether easier just to lock and sign it as "restricted use".

has anyone thought of doing a ramp on the offending RCD?

just so we know at what leakage its tripping off at to start with, could be a dodgy one that lets go at something stoopid like 12mA....

just a thought.
