My mirror is presently wired into the bathroom down lights. I would like to use it  independently  of  these, as it has it's own infra red switch.

Do regs require this to be off its own isolated supply in this case.?

No, just needs a permanent supply tapped into lighting, ideally via a switch fused conection (just so you can isolate mirror to change it in future without knocking lights off).

Thanks for the quick answer.

Easiest option would be to run it off the permanent supply run off the RCD/MCB  as it would mean putting the accessible  SFCU in the attic and would be easier and less time consuming  just to  flick the MCB in the garage.  Thanks again
