Immersion Divertor

So we've had a Solic 200 for nearly 3 years and its done the job we need it to - but its now not working. Lets just say the support from Earthwise products is simply AWFUL and whilst I could send it back for "repair" (yes I forgot to complete the extended warranty) - the cost for that would be about £110 and take 1 month.

So I've been pondering replacing it with a Myenergi Eddi or a Solar Ibooost

Just wondering if anybody has any experience with either of these ?

PS our inverter isn't battery compatible so the immersion divertor is a great way to harvest the power that would normally be exported.

Have you taken it apart to have a look?

I have repaired 2 different makes (forget which ones) and I have been underwhelmed with the construction, in once case fly leads far too thin had burned out, and another a PCB track incapable of carrying the current required had burned out. Both easy to fix and do the job properly so it should last longer.

I have EDDI installed here, it's very simple, easy setup, built like a brick outside toilet and does what it says on the tin. The app makes it easy to setup and it can divert minimal amounts of power at times eg 50w. When you get an EV it will work hand in hand with ZAPPI and again priorities in the app are easy to configure.

+1 for the Eddi. It seems to work exceptionally well though here in Argyll there is precious little surplus PV generation to divert at this time of year.

I have a friend who is a very talented electronics specialist - he's had a look ad found the fault was a faulty capacitor.

£1.40 plus carriage

So the unit is back up and running.

So my Solic 200 will carry on for a while

Well done. Failed capacitors must account for 99% of electronic faults now.

I must state that I no longer recommend Solic to customers because their after sales service is so POOR

I must have done over 100 LG Plasma TV's that would switch themselves off on a regular basis, in every case it was PSU capacitors, swap them out and away they went. I bought a spare PSU to swap out onsite to save lugging the TV around.

Thats usually the driver boards along the bottom of the display, have a look on ebay for boards or a TV with a smashed screen, easy and cheap fix with used parts.
