Just been to look at a job requiring the removal of an Induction Hob, to be replaced with a normal Electric Hob.

6mm T&E Feed protected by 32A MCB on the RCD side of CU.

6mm T&E Load side off to the oven.

6 Core Flex comes from behind the oven to feed the hob,(one of the cores is like a fibre optical type stuff)

Colours Are

Brown

Blue

Green & Yellow

Black

Black

Brown(Fibre optical type stuff)

Now I think we all know what the first three wires are, but what about the rest?

oh ****, id be well un impressed!

cant help though with the other wires.. apart from

do they go to the isolator too? cos them induction hobs use v little power wise.

They certainly don't go to the cooker isolator, they appear from behind the oven which is the same make so probably a connection for them to grab power from the oven somewhere.

is the oven and hob same isolator then? if so think uve answer ure own Q above :) only one way to find out and gets the tester out

I have connected a couple like this I think the fibre optic type one will be a filler and could be cut off, i just cant remember wether the two blacks are with the live or neutral. Have you tried searching online for wiring diagram? That ususally works for me. It is sometimes on the bottom of the hob as well. Sorry not much real help.

Pray

Power to Hob Comes From Oven.

Just curious about all the wires;)

could to hob have been designed for 3phase aswel as single pahse, hence the three phase conductor colours?

In the rest of Europe 2 and 3 phase appliances are common and it would be rare to see a circuit over 16A or so so you'll often find appliances with 4\5\6 terminals and\or 4\5\6 core flex with various combinations of terminals linked out for it to operate on single phase systems.

they are usually crimped together and doubled up with the live neutral and earth. just 5 0r 6 core doing the same job as a 3core but someone may have cut the cable shorter. If u can, look at the terminals at the appliance end.

I`m on Wozzies wavelength here (hey. That rhymes - nearly)

Allowance for 2 other phases, I would think. Check with your meters.

"fibre-optic"? think not. more than likely, just a filler, as has been previously suggested.

Many thanks guys, allowance for 3 phase appears to be the logical answer, ah well it's on the skip on Monday anyway, thanks to the kids!

On my hob, the blue and brown were crimped together and the two blacks were crimped together. Blacks were live, brown and blue were neutral. ?:|
