Hi

Does anyone know what sort of markup an interior designer/architect would put on a tradesman bill to put in their final bill to the client?

Is it around 30%?

Im quoting a job for a friend, fancy high spec bathrooms. Shes given me the figure from the architect for the electrics estimate (which is extortinate) so i'm just trying to work out what estimates hes been given from tendering it out. bit of a funny one...

cheers

Theres of way of knowing Fletch, could be anything , specially if they call it a bespoke design . They probably have a standard quote covering everything in a bathroom and double it.

They'll have huge mark ups on tiles , plumbing , design .

I would guess they are using the industry standard costings packages such as Luckins...

can't see them be ar5ed about waiting for contractors to come back with prospective costs...

:C

cheers guys. suppose i'll have to do it the old fashioned way and just price it myself rather than matching the price.

Its a funny one, my freinds moved abroad so this designer types doing the house. He'd tried to completely put her off using me for any work and use who he suggested. Shes now insisted he gets a price from me, and wants me to do work to keep an eye on stuf. she gave me the price he gave her for the electrics.

Obviously a champion bullsitter, suggest your friends ditches this pillock asap and uses you to arrange good local trades to do work at half the price. The world is full of snake charmer people, it seems they dazzle the customer with extortionate prices, who assume that Rolls Royce prices, means a Rolls Royce job.

Ever wondered why people think sparkies earn a fortune??

Yeah think she's regretting it, shes already got the ball rolling unfortunatley. Im sending him my estimate, then her later. She wants to see if it comes to her from him grossly inflated. Should be interesting.

Wifes cousin just had a builder in for some alterations in the kitchen. They'd asked me to do the wiring, which i said i'd do and notify the hard way to LABC as not a scam member. I thought all agreed and just waiting for the call.

Heard from a family member, builders in and electrician working there too. I'm not a happy bunny as they didn't bother telling me someone else was getting work.

Text 1, can i have a light switch in bathroom?

Text 2 , What size cable should i have for cooker?

Text 3, spark says i don't need any paperwork

Phone call, he's knocked big holes in the ceiling don't know why.

Well

Got an unhappy builder at the mo - customer declined his electrician and opted for me, something to do with being significantly cheaper. Anyway, job is 6 weeks late starting, gets on-site, builder giving it can't be delayed by me. Answer, try starting on time. managed to avoid 'go forth and mulitply'.
