Hi guys,

As you know I am looking at getting an IPad, thinking forward, what would be the best case you would recommend for site work, Otterbox or Griffin, or any others, thinking about drops and dirt/water.

Suggestions please?

Steve,

Mine would be getting into machine shops, joinery workshops, waste processing facilities, would be used outside, and in a multitude of other places that you would not want to take such a device!

I had a former colleague whose laptop was filled with soluble oil coolant!

So I'm looking forward and thinking about what I can get to protect it.

I'm also looking at "Toughbook" type laptops for the future.

I would try to get one that covers the entire ipad as the apple clip on ones dont protect the ally back and it will get scratched to s@&t in no time

Not strictly true, they do a case and a cover, the case has a back and front (this is what I have) and the cover only the front.

I was thinking of getting a "Man Bag" to slip mine into :) :) :)

For rough tough environment you need something special, there must be one out there at a price.

I know peeps who had the otterbox and have been happy with their choice. I'm gonna get one soon. Thinking 21st century starts now.

Sidey,

I took my iPad to the "mill" near me that I had a look at for you.

I have a Malware fold over case which protects both the front and back and is great for normal use,,, however it was useless in that environment as the insides of the case seemed to attract wood shavings and sawdust... it took almost a week before I had gotten it all off the case.

If I were you, and knowing what environments you'll use it in, I'd try and get something which is hermetically sealed

Sidey google lifeproof i think they have finished the pad case now.

Expensive but the best

If you want a case for your daily use at work I would get the griffin as it has more protection and at the cost for an iPad it will give you peace of mind
