Hi,

When ir testing a circuit with say 40 fluorsecents. Do all lamps tubes have to be taken out or is there a quicker way?

Thanks

Can temporary florecents be ir tested with tubes still connected in fitting via c-form if you test earth to line then earth to neutral... Fella at work was doing it like this today because it's hard to get crocodile clips across the L+N in the c-form... I'm pretty sure this isn't cool and will damage the lamps! What do u think?

Best not to, could give issues if you have a fault, i.e neutral earth short, and you start by testing live to earth, your live to earth test has suddenly become L to E&N ....

If you must, then do it on 250v first, then do it on 500v if all clear

Cheers for the replies! A c form is a type of plug.. Oh and wouldn't the earth to neutral pick up the E+N short? Would you suggest also carrying out the L+N test? Cheers for the help again!

you cannot do a test on flourescents full stop without introducing limitations,

if you dont understand this concept then you shouldnt be testing this type of circuit,

your other option is to disconnect every fitting on the circuit.

happy testing. :)

... A c form is a type of plug.. Oh ...
DO you mean ceeform?

An early name for the BS4343 / BS EN 60309 type plugs and sockets, 110V yellow, 240V blue, 415V Red etc?

I have seen lighting connected with these for ease of servicing and isolation, it gives a neat solution to be honest, IP44 or above being available.
