On TV , the number of adverts on the commercial channels really drives me up the wall these days, ( except the one with Harvey the Dog) thank the Lord for the Beeb .

I just start getting into a programme and it stops ,yet again for the same old carp that we just watched 10 minutes ago , talk about brain washing . I only watch a few hours of TV in a week but I feel now that we are under the control of the advertisers , hammering their message home , with a few programmes thrown in as an afterthought, to keep us glued to the screen .

With the new types of flat screen , most people have a excellent picture to watch ,even without HD, all to watch hours of bleedin' adverts on .

They do indeed Rev - there was supposed to me a thing in place to stop them doing that.

Anyway, back to ads - I have also noticed that the programmes are getting shorter, because of the sponsors of that programme add their bit in, before and after.

Also, we have this new product placement thing that came in on 28th February 2011.

It's not just you. I feel the same. I have a Freeview DVR and record most programmes I wish to watch and just fast forward the ads. If I want to watch when it's on, I just use chasing playback (a superb function that was, of course, impossible with VCR).

I use Sky plus and set something to record and then start watching it 10-15 minutes after the start time, lets me fast forward through the ads.

i was in boots a few weeks ago and a hot woman was trying to get me to buy a fusion 'singing all dancing' five blade razor........

i said what do you use on your legs ?????? a normal razor she said,,,,,,why not one of these if they are so good ?????? silence

That's what I mean by chasing playback, watching something off disc a few minutes behind the real-time recording (it's also how DVRs "pause" live TV).

Not that I've timed them,, but I recon that there's an ad now on ITV every 15mins where they used to be every 20mins and to compensate they seem to be shorter....more (how do I say it...... ) Americian:coat
