I think it is a sign of 2020.  So much production / filming shut down due to Covid, there is very little new stuff, and all the broadcasters are scraping the barrel including lots of repeats and old stuff.

the clue is most broadcasters have taken to putting the word ""New:" in front of anything that is original material.  That is a word you do not see very much on the tv listings just now.

But the problem with the "NEW" prefix is some channel may have had rights to a certain program...

Then it is later farmed out to one of the subsidiary channels...

And it is then promoted with a snappy title:

"NEW" to ITV3.. "Real Housewives Of The Highways Patrol, Bake Cakes With Ant & Dec, While Restoring A Classic Car, Before the Bailiffs Reclaim It For A Scrapyard Challenge"...

Or something like that??

When its just repeats of something from ITV from six months earlier!!

  :C

There are one or two interesting documentaries that are on at stupid times...

And so many prime time programs have that 10minute re-cap of the whole program after every advert break..

So a 30min program ends up as 1hour with 3 advert breaks!

:coat

Standard practice in our house: . Record anything you fancy watching, then you can fast wind the adverts, OR Catch up does it for you.
Which is why I would still prefer to record stuff off proper television because you can do that.  Watch the same program on line and the players stop you skipping the adverts.

Their favourite one is re-editing a series, usually one of these reality documentaries type things, I forget their proper genre, where they're in a train station, going round a factory/construction site and the likes then claiming it's new when it's just a rehash of an old one or a mash up of two previous ones mixed together.

And don't the ad breaks seem to be getting longer!

The rules have changed defining allowable advert duration per hour..

One 7min/hour rule was increased to 12min/hour....

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1359637/6-minute-advert-break-Ofcom-relaxes-rules-commercials.html#:~:text=Longer breaks%3A Films and one-off dramas will be,minutes of adverts for every half an hour

https://www.campaignlive.co.uk/article/itv-channel-4-push-longer-ad-breaks/1594154

BUT...

It appears to have differences dependant upon the broadcast channel and the type of program....

Its not just the wiring reg's that has an abundance of waffle and rules to complicate a simple problem!

https://www.ofcom.org.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0020/16328/rules.pdf

Bottom line is..

There are more adverts..

The thing that makes it worse is frequently you get the same group of adverts multiple times through the same 60min program!

It wouldn't be so bad if the same advert wasn't allowed to be repeated in a two-hour period..

so you would at least get some variation in!
