According to the builder I'm working with at the moment , he was refused service for electrical goods at Screwfix unless he could confirm that he was an electrician. HHmmmmmm interesting.

( Actually, he thinks he,s an electrician ,its Part Pee thats stopped him doing his own leckies)

Unfortunately we can all argue the wrongs and rights but every citizen in this country can purchase any electrical equipment which may kill them, or the unsuspecting tennants they let the houses out to.

The laws an ass, always has been and always will.

Lets face it Part P is not a bad idea, its just very poorly conceived, allowing back door entry into a trade, and very poorly policed.

However I urge all of you to check with your insurance companies, any property not covered by a "safety certificate" will not be covered in the event of any electrical fault/fire.

Nice little clause for the insurance companies!

couldnt agree more.

I have to pay full whack in store, I only get discount if ordered online. Or so they tell me at my local screwfix.

(only use them when working weekends anyway).

Same here.

My local wholesaler where I have my account is considering reopening for saturday trading first time for 2 years.

More one man band trade now rather than the big companies so he tells me.
