I'll post some more pics tomorrow as I'm going round there and find out all the details but yes all his own design scaled from his landy 90 but me dad was a mechanic, welder & sprayer so gave him something to do. Unfortunately now he can't lift it as he's terminally Ill so I get it out for kids and also stick it in back of transit and take it round park. Always waiting for the plastic police to turn up and have a go but as its a law mower motor it's not too loud and it's not like theyre flying around. It's geared down so not too fast. Was originally chain driven but been converted to belt driven now.---------- Post Auto-Merged at 23:31 ---------- Previous post was made at 23:30 ----------

Is Suffolk something steps could be colt ??
Sorry to hear that, but if all's his work's like that then that's a proud legacy. Assuming it's from a self propelled mower then ask him if he retained the centrifugal clutch (as I intend doing).

Yeah it's defo got the centrifugal clutch. The weight of it with kid(s) in it keeps it still on tickover and he's engineered an accelerator pedal with cable, brake pedal works a disk brake and kill switch on dash earths spark. I'll take some pics tomorrow and post up.

deffo sounds right for a suffolk, they had a little metal tab above the plug that you simply pushed onto the top of the plug to kill the spark and stop the engine.

We're not worthy! Toy Alvis Stalwart:

A bit slow IMO but a lot of work's gone into it and the kid's quite little. Did have a site link once but can't find it..........

Now I'm thinking of the similar thing like the Shado Mobile from U.F.O.......the mobility scooter chassis with interchangeable bodies, Postman Pat one day and Ford Capri the next! :)

Wow that was a blast from the past, I had a SHADO 2 when I was a kid, it was one of my favorite toys, along with playing with my dads spanners, screwdrivers, hammers etc. in the garage and apparently burying a lot of them in the garden.

The SHADO 2 from what I remember used the small radar dish at the back corner to flip that missile platform round from inside.

I Used to watch the original as a kid and absolutely loved it. Had the Interceptor toy that fired rockets out of the nose. It was only when I re-discovered the series recently for my boy to watch that I realised why my older brother and Dad so liked the original! ;)

box would be fine for a kids jeep trundling round, for something a bit more adult and getting abuse you need round, or even oval if you want to do the calcs to loading,

thats why race karts/buggies are built round/oval, to flex and take the use.

Fab m4tty.

I have edited your post so that all members can see your images within your post, rather than clicking on them and looking on PB.

My own fault for starting this thread........ I've just bought another mobility scooter! Needs a bit of repair work but nothing major. At least the kids can have races for now. Think I'll have to get a couple of new 38 or 40Ah batteries though!

Been up and took photos of my Brother home made one - I have to go out now, sorry - but I will put the images on Tomorrow.

Very cute. A nice small motor there! What's it from, wiper motor? Give that a lick of yellow and you've got BRUM! 12V car battery I presume.

Hi all,

What can i say........ I was never lucky enough to have kids, [or a proper dad] but if i did, i wish [hope] that i would have been half as good a dad as you lot have been to your kids....Not like these idiots that just want to prop them in front of the television.

Anyone can go to a shop and buy something for them. To make something like that for them [and with them perhaps] is trully the mark of a brilliant devoted dad..

Be proud, for you are all very special people.....If there were more like you, the world would be a better and happier place....

john...
