Hey all

Hoping to pick a brain...or 10. I've had a read through the growatt section....and feel am close but no cigar as yet....

We have a biggish house. Installed heatpump solar and two batteries (13kw). We are having all sorts of problems...meter been changed now on the third meter. We are being told our usage is twice the amount of our growatt app. Almost exactly coincides with the percentage usage of generated /imported. I.e. the bill is exactly what I would have expected were we billed for total usage (Inc solar batteries).
Is this even a possibility or can growatt app be 50 per cent wrong and we are using 14k imported and solar and batteries ? We go without importing in summer months, only very minimal amounts. 2-3 kwh per couple days

If this makes any sense at all to anyone 🤣🤣🤣

Also eonavinyouon are charging us for 14000 kwh per year...we are discharging circa 4500 kwh via batteries and we have 16 solar panels south facing so whatever that produces on top ?

Moved to correct forum

After their meter broke this is what they billed us and they said they were underestimating. We are well insulated, fully double glazed. Log burners ...

Do you have historic bills and readings?

14000 doesn’t sound that high for all your energy requirements for a large house

What is it in pounds ?

And don’t forget PV production is very low, almost nothing in the winter

Thanks guys it's super complicated......its a bigish house with two of us here. D/g insulated..log burners etc. We got ashp and solar batteries almost 3 years ago when we moved in. The original meter would not work with this set up so we couldn't export so eventually they changed it and worked out some ish bills. Then we noticed it wasn't reading night rates we complained and complained and eventually it stopped all together so they changed it months later and did the same as before.estimated an ish....then lo and behold it happened again they changed it and then tried to bill us 1.5k. We took it to the ombudsman who said its an OK guess at almost 40 kwh per day throughout the year averaged (import only). So they have us at 14000 import...we make or use batteries to another 7000 kwh. So 21k!!! Our growatt says total import 7000kwh... made/used our own 7000kwh. No real bills to go on except the last two months which have been very cold. My questions are; can growatt app be that wrong ?
Can we really use over 21000kwh ?
Could there be any fault causing this ?
And lastly am happy to pay for an expert to check the meter/ import/usage/system but who ?
Not sure of relevant but not long ago they had to change the actual supply in the middle of the night as it was arcing outside and blew the big fuse.

But as the ombudsman would only deal with one issue at one point in time...I couldn't say the first 2 meters didn't work either and they had been replaced..and therefore any readings would have been wrong anyway.....madness

Some of them did some didn't...its madness...I have probably 50 bills for 2.5 years ...just trying to find a way to extract the info for ease of looking on here

What energy supplier are you with? they sound incompetent. I suggest changing to a different supplier. If you want a recommendation I would say Octopus, they have been highly regarded for customer service for some time now. And by the way if you want a referral code to get £50 of your first bill PM me.

Do you take regular readings yourself? I read my meters once a week so I would know pretty quick if the meters had stopped registering.

Eon .....honestly is driving me mad. We've taken videos and photos constantly trying to get them to sort it. So what they did was take the readings over the last 6 weeks since new meter and decided to bill imis for 38 kwh per day all year. In summer we use very little. Nothing I could do tried ombudsman who sided with them

We've been watching it all day and noticed that when we charge the batteries from import the app thinks we charged them with solar so it's off by 11.4 kw per day but still doesn't square to the 21k per annum

When working, the suppliers meters are rarely wrong. It is sounding like the placement of the current clamps that measure power flow for the app is wrong.

Still wrong that your supplier assumed winter usage rates all year for the non metered periods.

Can that assumption be made when smart meters are involved

Seen this a few times on solar / battery installations especially when there is a second CU off the main CU and the solar is connected to the second CU
Still wrong that your supplier assumed winter usage rates all year for the non metered periods.
These suppliers will do anything they can to maximise there bills

Here are some pics of set up. Just a bit gutted that they think are usage is 21k per year 😢
