There was me thinking that if you do do things that good things will happen to you.... well think on, it doesn't.

Today on the way to a job I see a car being pushed by a mother (steering) and two small kids,, must have be all of 6 or 7 years old. So as its a narrow lane I stop to offer assistance, she'd run out of fuel and was geting the car into a gateway so I helped to push. Obviously being in a van (kangoo) I can't give them a lift but that wasn't a problem as they only lived up the road...

I then go and do good days work at a friends house that I'm rewiring.

Now roll on to my journey home,,, I going back down the lane of the mornings incident, when now more than 200 yards down the road and my vans cam belt snaps :( :( :( :sobbing

I've now been towed home by both my friend and father, the latter who has thankfully lent me his escort van (he's now retired)

I'll have to get the wife on to it tomorrow as there is no mobile signal where I'm working.. I have been told that these engines are pretty bullet proof,, but I have an inkling that the head gasket is also leaking water!

Maybe as its a Y plate and at 147k miles that its at the end of its life,,, maybe not worth getting fixed :(

If the same happens to your borrowed Escort , Nick, the engine will definitely be fugged .   Happened to my last Escort which was petrol , my own fault for not thinking of getting the belt changed.TBH  .         Garage fitted me an engine for £300 .

i would look for a new one   it could lose its gearbox the following week then you would be well miffed

I think I'm going to have to TBH,, but as ever my budget isn't going to be anywhere like what I'd like it to be and I'm going to need something bigger (3 seats minimum) that can also tow with ease
