hello chaps,

I have a few questions on a kitchen fit i am doing so thought i would lump them all together.

1) extractor fan, customer does not want me to go through the wall its on, she wants it on the other side, 4.5m away, is this ok or does the extractor need 'help' to draw that distance?

2) i put a 10mm feed in for the oven and hob, she is now having a built in microwave as well, the kitchen designer wants it wired in, is it ok to have 3 feeds from the 1 cooker control unit? she also has an aga so will still have a cooker if there is a fault.

3) the mains water is in the kitchen with the aga and boiler, all was bonded before rip out, aga is being moved to the other end of the room but the boiler is going to the other side of the house with a new stopcock in to the celler, sould i bond there aswell as ther will be 2 points that the water/oil enter the house?

thanks

paul

1. Depends on the spec. of the particular extractor; but if you use solid ductwork (largest you can), and a minimal number of bends, you`ll help the situation.

2. Ideally no - the micro wants a socket on the local cct (unless it has a commercial magnetron, and cooks eggs in 2.3 seconds.) ;)

3. If there are two points of entry; either bond outside the property, or both of the supplies inside where possible.

Hi Paul, I had the same problem a few weeks back, she had a double oven + high powered microwave + hob. I ended up having a circuit for the double oven and a circuit for the hob and micro wave together. Hope this helps

i did a kitchen a few months back now.... they had two ovens side by side which were on one 6mm circuit as they are rated at 13A max 'even came with plugs', plus the microwave just came off the kitchen ring as it was a standard domestic type...
