Hi,

I've bought a punchdown tool and it looks quite technical lol. Can anyone explain how to use it. I have no experience with Bt sockets at all. Thanks in advance for any help.

Line it up, push down, and the cutters on the side cut the excess cable for you. :)

Lay the a cable core across the fork of the terminal with ,say, half inch too much ,jam it down with the Krone tool, with little cutters on the outer side. The tool should click as the cable is connected and the spare will be cut off at the same time.

Same method for data cables if you ever do them .

They dont work with all brands of data outlets though you will need another type. Not sure what brand here but in NZ it was Modtap
The terminal style is 110. You need a 110 punchdown tool, almost identical to the Krone type, but not quite.

A quick way of checking if you need a 110 or Krone tool most of the time, if the metal contacts on the punch down block are at 45 deg use a Krone tool. If the are straight use a 110...
