Just spent half a day lumbering round a grotty loft space wallowing in fibreglass lagging 100 feet deep . Got to plough through it to find the existing lights and clear spaces for downlights, who'd be a sparks eh! Hate the bloody stuff with a vengance. Its not laid so neatly now :|

I know,I know I have to earn a living but give me Commercial and Industrial work anyday.

Deke from Itchycoo Park

Hate the stuff, bet its still stuck in your arms now!!

Dont you just love it when you open open the loft hatch and there it is stapled to a beam

a card saying the insulation has been upgraded on .............

so you know the rolls go in opposite directions

no way that is going back neatly

Yes even after a shower. Also I have to wear glasses for close up work and wearing a mask steams them up . Nightmare .
use a mask with a vent - should direct air away from glasses

And does anyone else think fibreglass is the next asbestos?

I remember reading an article about the hidden dangers of this lagging but for the life of me I can not remember where or how long ago.

The main thing I can remember was the damage it could do to your lungs as very fine particles can be inhaled, so I always try to wear a mask.

There is an additional problem ,in my opinion, with the old original crap ( about 25mm thick) which seems to be breaking down and turning into dust.

Thanks Andy , I usually wear the vent type but the inlet filters are now blocked up ,cant seem to find spares. But yes its the answer to glasses steaming up.

I seen many insulation fitters, install this stuff without any protection..

And the best of it is, they are doing everyday of the week.

Any form of foreign body enetering the lungs is a bad thing, this organ has litttle in the way of defence (if anything)...

So wear a mask...

Screwfix sell masks with disposable filters - much easier and cheaper than using disposable masks

something like this

i dont think im immune!! fibreglass is really irritating, along with dust, so have large stocks of dust masks & other safety stuff in the van
