Hi,

I'm new - apologies if I'm posting in the wrong section.

I'm sure there is other threads on this subject as well but I just wanted to ask.

I want to replace two 12V 50W Osram decostar GU5.3 Halogen bulbs with LEDs in a bathroom. When I replaced a bulb a few years ago I was told I would need a coolbeam one as there is not much room in the ceiling above.

Can anyone tell me if I replace the bulbs with a Philips 12V 5W GU5.3 LED it will be ok and work the same as the coolbeam and not be a fire hazard?

Many thanks,

Matt

coolbeam are more of a fire hazard than reflector lamps, since the coolbeam lets more of the heat out the side to the surrounding area...

LEDs produce very little heat compared to halogen so not a problem fitting them

Apologies I meant the alu reflector bulb not coolbeam.

The bulb where the hear needs to come out in to the room and not back in to the roof space.

So you think a 5W 12V will be ok to replace them without putting in a fire risk?
