the duration of employment; it depends upon the employer.

I once worked for a guy who expected me to be there five days

per week when there was only enough work for three days out

of five and a pretty car fuel bill into the bargain. I eventually

sacked him. He never negotiated a contract with me and he was

a nameless thing that might be filtered. He made a virtue of lying

through his teeth when my rep was at stake if things went T**S up.

Employment contracts : Directgov - Employment Useful stuff on this site. Also it would depend on aany holidays and how you were paid as you could argue that you were self employed for him unless he was deducting tax under PAYE and giving you normal paid holidays. Proper legal advice is the way to go and have as much paperwork as possible, ie unsigned contract, wage slips or payment slips, tax deductions, so much needs to be taken into account, it is not as simple as it sounds.
