But many people who know nothing about electrics and don't have the time to get a different electrician in, would just accept this.That is why you do due diligence and obtain multiple quotes. If people are too lazy to search around for alternative options then clearly they have the money to simply right it off. This is what this guy done and the 'con' men are without work. Job done.
After all, it was an NICEIC electrician, instructed by the council, who said this work is necessary, and this is how much it will cost. So I suspect a lot of people would just, begrudgingly, accept that it needs doing and pay up. And the nicey man would be laughing all the way to the bank.
Charging a price above the market rate, for a job that does not even need doing, is just about the perfect example of a confidence trick, and I thought illegal.
I think it is shocking that a local authority appears to be in cahoots with this scam.
