Hi guys,

Just after a bit if advice - Is it within the IEE wiring regulations to take a lighting fused spur from a socket circuit? I've just had a look through BS 6761 but there doesn't appear to be any mention of it.

Damien. its very common practice to do it.

Take a look in Appendix 15 at the back of Bs 7671

Dont look in bs6761 though !

In appendix 15 (of BS 7671 ;) ) it shows examples of various socket spurs from socket circuits but no examples of lighting spurs from socket circuits.

It is just assumed that if a socket spur is acceptable then a lighting spur will be too?

One more question on the spur subject - Am I right in believing that it's acceptable to take a spur from a fused spur i.e. a spur off a spur?

yes ,cos the fuse in the first spur is limiting the current available ,therefore protecting the cable......Loading & diversity should also be considered......Back to Appendix 15 again !
