Hi guys doing a eicr on a block of flats, and in some flats the tails are around 6m I know the limit is 3m what code would you put this down as? (there is no hope in hell of changing it to some swa to feed the boards.

Hi all,

There is also a bit in the regs about conductors and the position of overload and or fault current protection. This is where the 3 metre bit comes from. Sooooo, what ever code you think a non compliance with the regs warrants.....

john..

yeah i agree its a DNO thing , maybe just write it down as an observation?

Depends on what you are doing.

The EICR requires comment on DNO equipment at the origin, so this could come under that requirement?......

What they have at the momen 100a 1361 outside in a cupboard then goes up to a cut out (but with a solid link in. Then to the meter and from e meter 6m or so to the cu

i personally wouldnt really bother to code this, if the tails are adequate for the fuse size and installed in a reasonable manor and showing no signs of damage then theres not really any safety issue

Maybe more a DNO issue

^^^as above maybe an observation if you feel the need

ESQCR states "reasonably practicable" on this matter.

As I understand it, in the older Supply regs the 3 metre

rule was stated IIRC.

I am told that in the North West the maximum they will

permit is 2 metres.

DNO's normally have a rule for this in their specs, so it must comply with that, else they are legally entitled to disconnect supply under ESQCR.
