Had a few speeding tickets through this week. All on the M25 managed motorway sections. Apparently 1500 people have been caught between October and December 2015.

You have been warned.

Just have a check they are legal,

We have a controlled section on the M60, and it appears the application for the cameras was worded wrong so the GM polis have refused to enforce any penalties issued.

M25 is a ******* nightmare. if its not a car park its a cash machine!

The real problem for me is now they have widened it and there is a variable speed limit on the Essex/Kent stretch I spend more time looking at the speedo, worrying about gantry cam's and the average cam's, I will end up in the Armco!

I would use cruise control but I don't know what the limit is as it bloody changes the whole time!!!

: headbang

Grrrr

I would have thought a speeding ticket on the M25 was like an asbo. you wear it with pride.  It was a damn good achievement to get fast enough to get nicked.

When I go into London I try and get in for 06:30-07:00 to beat the traffic. Nice bit of breakie. Done.

Trouble is... its very expensive to insure cars down here so collecting points is a very expensive hobby.

If it was just a fine I'd sit at 110 in the Audi lane all day long! :D

My FIL is a ADI 'observer' (not an instructor for legal reasons)  & i go to most meetings with him. A few months back the talk was by the man in charge of many motorways including the M25. Amazing figures & facts such as if a lane has to be closed it takes 45 min to open it again as all cameras have to checked twice. Every single part is now covered by CCTV. Very soon, if not already big fines and points to be given for not obeying the signs about lane closures and to move out. Watching footage its amazing how many people drive in closed lanes until a few feet of the obstruction.

Everyone in their department was against getting rid of the hard shoulder, but Government over ruled them.

I read somewhere that average speed cameras are paired according to lanes. So if you change lanes in between, it doesn't register. Might be wrong though.

Average speed cameras are all interlinked, what you do have us a start and end camera, however it doesn't necessarily follow that the first is start and last is end. It can be in any configuration.

Still why are you all in such a hurry to get some where, sit back relax enjoy the music/radio or silence and accept that the drive is what it is. You thrashing around isn't going to change that, although it may change your life. I learnt this the hard way, wish I understood it the first time I was told.

If they are anything like the average speed camera's on the A9 up here, they can detect if you are towing a trailer (presumably they can detect the triangle reflectors)

A friend of mine got a ticket for doing an average of 62 mph.  When he contested it and said that's a bit close to the theshold isn't it? then answer came back "you were towing a trailer so only should have been doing 50"

thing is, there is no need for them. if its busy, then your speed is set by the traffic around you. you cant really go faster than them. during quieter times when there isnt any traffic and its safe to travel at the normal speed limit, itll often be flashing 50 or lower for no reason

some have axle counters. that would be confirmed in the picture

Quite true Andy, if there were no speed limits you'd find that people would drive more sensibly, (you will always get the mad Essex man or flying duck) but people drive fast because a limit is set so they think they have to drive at it.

A lot of the camera's are now digital linked to computers that can tell what vehicle class it is and many van drivers will be caught out.
