I'd have thought that this would be classed as making an alteration to a fire alarm system and therefore it would have to comply with 5836.
so if you change a socket in a kitchen then you need to notify it.?

and the kitchen ring needs to comply with 17th 7671.?

I see your point and I'm trying to think of an argument to back up my previous post, but can't ATM

I've just had a thing with an extension and smokes,, 3 story house with non linked smokes.. now the BC will want the extension to have a smoke linked into the existing system, but as that doesn't comply with 5836 Pt6 and as I would be responsible for the design/alteration of the fire alarm system then I'm going to have to link them all (replace as necessary with Aico RF ones)

this is my issue,

but Im not adding to the circuit,

simply replacing 10yr old detectors, or damaged ones.,

I think though if you add it may be different..........

BTW,

for once Im not looking for an argument, just some reasoning,

but I think if you add, then you are modifiying the CCT so will be subject to compliance.

What's happened Steps... are you on some kind of medication ROTFWL

Maybe it's one of those where we'd advise interlinking, but it's not absolutley necessary by regs??

Dunno though:innocent
