yup, had the same with the inlaws, they had a load of pendant ones smashed it an buried it at the end of my garden, 6 months later still beeping away!

A bit more help would be greatly appreciated.

Ive noticed the different types of smoke alarms, Thermoptek, optical and ionisation.

What would be your recommendations for the various rooms?

One final thing - are the alarms wired loop in/loop out or fed from a single cable into a JB ?
