Hi,

What battery level do you let it drop to before replacing the batteries with the MFT1552. i.e. 11.4V

Thanks

Also whilst training last year I noticed that they were using rechargable batteries in their testers, but thought megger said you shouldnt use rechargables. What do you lot think?

No I do not use rechargables and I think they will only do it as the readings are not that important on training courses and they get used alot so they would be land filling a load of batts otherwise.

I have used rechargable batteries, but when they go flat the voltage drops off very gradually and I found that I got very suspect readings

I now use Duracell batteries as I have found that others just don't last as long... get the multi packs from B&Q or Toys R Us!

Mine normally gets down to about 9V before batteries are pants. I always use decent batteries like duracell or energiser ultra which sustain useable charge for longer. I got caught once with dead batteries and had to buy cheap crap from local village shop - they barely lasted an hour before dying :(

last time i changed my batteries when it would not allow me to carry out dead testing.. plus the battery symbol appears.

got to be alkaline but they do last a while, i picked up a pack from maplins not used them yet though

i too normally get to about 9v then it wont carry out tests. dont think rechargable are recommended as there not 1.5v (12v in total) each there closer to 1.2v each (9.6v in total) so is almost at its min amount needed.

i always buy the best about duracell ultra but normally get from adsa as normally buy 8 get 8 free, and always have a couple of spare packs in van so dont get caught short.

Sent my meter in for calibration with low batts and they replaced them FOC. Nice :) .
