So a friend of mine wants me to do some electrical work for him, but his landlord wants me to supply a minor works cert, I work for a large retail company which uses its own certification and im more maintenance than installation. Im happy to suppy one dowloaded from the web, and also my test equipment is not calibrated and im not affiliated to any fancy clubs, NICEiC etc. I use my insulation tester more for fault finding than testing.

My question is, would my certificate be legitimate

Thanks

anyone can write a MWC / EICR / EIC. no requirement for any clubs. test kit should be calibrated or checked regularly for consistency

if youre doing your own jobs away from your employer then you should also have the required PLI & PII insurances etc

Yeah makes sense, i dont do enough of this work to make it worth getting all the gear callibrated, its just a favour for a mate really but its a risk in someone elses property without the insurance
