Go to have a look at the weather on the computer earlier. I see warning triangles and "weather alert issued" type notices. In a near panic i click on the thing to get details of the impending doom that is due to overtake us, 120mph winds and the like, but, what do i find???

"A developing frontal system is expected to bring another period of persistent, and at times heavy, rain to parts of the UK later on Thursday and into Friday. Rain is likely to be accompanied by strong and gusty winds. The public should be aware of the risk of localised flooding, this perhaps exacerbated by fallen leaves blocking drainage courses"

OMG fallen leaves in the drain in autumn, severe mortal danger.......

Something wrong with the cretins...

john...

If they feel the need to tell us about the leaves, I can only deduce that this years leaves are the wrong type of leaves as I don't recall any such warnings in previous years, the question is has anybody informed the railways???

Perhaps this is what the all new super computer can forecast??

I'm waiting for the "we're expecting half an inch of snow, everybody stay off the road and by the way all the schools will be shut", and "we're not used to snow, that's why the country grinds to a halt". It happens every year! I mean, how long does it take to get used to it?

It's elf n safety.....gone mad....I tell ya.

I spend a lot of time on council estates and social housing estates and the amount of effort they are putting in to clearing leaves is unreal. 2/3 guys with leaf blowers and another one in a massive truck. They don't do this much work ever!

It's not really a problem for us sensible types but if I were a complete moron and slipped over on the way to my council flat with my bag of super brewskis and broke my leg I'd be on the phone to scumbags 4u to make a claim for my broken leg and the 12 pack of polski specials!

Same applies to schools if little Johnny simpleton falls over on some ice in the playground then little Johnny's mum aint gonna be happy and she will sue the school.

If this happens 2 or three times over the winter and the school has no budget for the next year!

I grew up with leaves and snow and don't have a problem with it as I suspect the rest of you don't but all it takes is a few people to ruin it for the rest of us!

WE NEED TO MAN UP A BIT!

In sweeden they have real snow and have ways of dealing with it but over here we just avold being sued!

This is why we get messages from the MET office warning us about leaves!

As for the trains they use the leaves as a way of excusing their already **** service.

78 rings a bell and few years either side of that, last year we got a snowflake in Plymouth and only about an inch on Dartmoor for a couple of days - I like snow, it's fun so very disappointed for the last few years. Think we last had reasonable amount of snow 4 years ago when the dog was a pup - hilarious watching short legged jack russel bouncing through a foot of snow.

There is an obscene amount of 4x4s around here....the upstairs carpark can be a right biaaaatch if it drizzles

When it snows the only person driving around in a 4x4 is Mrs Kerch in her faithful, but battered Shogun!

All the other 4x4 drivers get a Taxi!

Quite amusing, but pathetic

Just chuckling
My pet hate is 4x4 drivers that refuse to keep a sensible distance when it's been snowing just because they think they are invincible. I dont fancy my little tin can being flattened when they realise (too late) that they aren't invincible when they need to brake...

especially when they work out road biased tyres ruin 4x4 capabilities....... :slap

It is a problem in general with modern, energy efficient tyres, the tread patterns are so low profile they don't grip on the tiniest amount of dirt
