so how come you pay ground rent then?isnt it the other way round?
That's if you buy a leasehold property, in that case you are not buying the ground, but buying the right to use it for a certain period of time.

If you buy freehold, you buy the ground and don't pay rent to anybody.

 
+1 what prodave says. I live in a leasehold property. Never again nothing but problems. Freehold is the only way from now on.
