Hi Lads, I'm new to motorised sat dishes, I'm hoping to put a 1 meter dish on the back of my house, I've been given a little advice off one of my customers, he is advising on what box to buy and what sats to subscribe to... One thing he did say is I'd need to get someone in to position the dish at a cost of around

Latest Trend is card sharing using a Linux based receiver connected to the Internet and joining an (illegal) card share network can get all of the euro and Arabic sports channels with this and yes the porno too.

I've even herd you can get the Sky channels like this too.

You can buy a cheap satelite finder from Screwfix for around a tenner. if its motorised then you move it to where you want. Of course this meter is not the best in the world but its been fine for the limited use i have given it.

Filmnet, that brings back memorys of the dodgy Irish box you had to trim in every other week, just for the 'specialist' films on (was it ?) Friday & Wedneday nights.

Ahh some happy memories of meaningful artistic culture films wednesdays and fridays, with some beers and a big box of kleenex(for the sad storyline obviously)

there you go

although Linux based receivers are about 10 years going now, this is simply the latest incarnation,

they come in both cable and satellite versions, or combined. :D

My latest box is a Technomate TM800HD not done much with it yet as I need to sort out my dish farm and realign the Astra/Hotbird dish on the front of the house.

Openbox s11 for me, dreambox is good too, though you may need to do some Linux coding for a cline, loads of guides on the internet how to do it though.

The thing is with a motorised dish, the arc has to be spot on or you will miss everything up there.

As for tripod, 1M Dish and heavy winds, will need some form of anchoring for sure.
