In the office again.
As usual - part of the sparky`s job - what with the upcoming darts season - is to fit a small spotlight to illuminate the dartboard.

Easy job - not an issue.................

Oh - Wait! What`s that? I need to mount the dartboard itself??!!?? Ah, okay.

The wall its going on has a recess with a tv in it. what they want is a dismountable 12mm ply sheet that covers the hole, with the dartboard on.

So - we`ve routed a channel out of the bottom, for the 12mm ply to go in - and, at the top, he doesn`t want screws - ( cos its dismountable) - he wants some sort of sliding clip / bracket thing, that can slide down over the ply to hold it in position; or be slid / twisted out of the way, to remove the ply / dartboard altogether.

Any ideas??

Wozz - that wasn`t what I was origianlly thinking of - but it would work - thanks

Deke - simple & effective - like me. I likes that one. Thank you.

Onoff: spring catch might be an issue when they press on the ply, it`ll spring off the wall :slap

Paddler : Throwing darts at the tv would (I`m just guessing here) not go down too well :coat

Easy solution to that! http://us.123rf.com/400wm/400/400/design56/design561105/design56110500146/9593088-colorful-plastic-toy-darts-with-suction-cups-on-white-background.jpg

U shaped wardrobe rail bracket either side of the alcove.

Wardrobe rail across the top of the board wedges top down to hold it back, & if needed blocks & wedges above to hold it down.

Only problem with those is it can be a cow to get the panel back off them sometimes.

If it's resting on something then you could use a cleat fixed to the wall with a long screw with a spacer between it and the wall

Very effective,,, I'm currently using that method to keep my vans glovebox closed ;)

I did think of summat like the keku - but, as jono says - a bit of a bugger to dismount; and they only want it up one night a week for the darts - rest of the time the tv is used in there.........

Snakehips - yup, that could work.

M107 - so could that - I sort of need either something that will slot down into a (neat) receiver on the wall; or maybe two throw bolts................

I was about to say - but they wouldn`t look too good - unless I could mount `em on the rear of the board somehow, with a way to throw them from the front - then they could go into holes in the reveals........

Or - summat else

first up,

Id look at having the board under compression from the rear,

as said, you dont want rows when it 'moves' , even slightly, spring steel thingies are available,

actually, thinking about it, how about some girder clips on the ply and some 20mm galv on the recess and just clip it on?

Ive just thought about that as I type, and, I think thats a might fine idea,  :D

BTW, I dont think 12mm ply is good for a dartboard backing, it blunts the darts too easily,

youd really want at least 6mm proper wood on the face of it,,,,,,,,,,,

you could make the backboard out of some decent tight fitting floorboard if you wanted a proper job.

I`ve been asked to fit it Albert - not redesign it ;)

If it blunts darts - don`t throw em into the wood :slap

I like the girder fixing - except that he wants his recess to look "nice" when the dartboard isn`t there ( most of the time) - I`d have difficulty convincing him that a chunk of 20mm galv wasn`t unsightly....................... But fine idea (in other spots.)
