Techie types,

I have a HP Officejet 6310 All-in-One printer/copy/scan/fax and a Netgear wireless router (from Sky Broadband)

The printer is connected to the router and I was able to print wirelessly from my and my gf's laptops. Suddenly I can no longer print. Sometimes I get a 'document failed to print' warning and sometimes the document sits in the printer que.

The router works - Internet wise, and all the other functions work on the printer.

I'm running on Vista if that's important.

Help!

(btw when I bought the printer it warned to either connect through a network or direct via a USB, so I haven't tried printing using a USB port, but er have 2 laptops so wireless printing is great.)

Off the top of my head to get you in the right direction, I would say a firewall is blocking ports required for printer. Or printer has lost ip address. Details of both will be in the manual for printer.

you need the router to search the printer, (strip search :^O ) to apply a ip address to the printer, when the printer has this asigned ip address you need to set the printer to manual not automatic as every time the router logs on the internet and the printers boots up the ip address wiull cvhange between the router and the printer i know as its happen toi me and i have the same type of networked printer except mines a brother not hp

but how?

Delete/remove the current networked printer.

Re-install it and make sure it works.

Then in this order: -

1. re-boot the pc and make sure it still works.

2. Re-boot (switch off and on) the printer and make sure it still works.

3. Finally reboot the router and tell me what happens.

This will tell me where the network is loosing its configuration if at all.

Cheers

Steve

Thanks for the help chaps

Turns out that there was a glitch with the driver software trying to spontaneously uninstall itself! I downloaded the patch from HP and it works a treat at the moment.
