Hi, I would appreciate some advice and guidance on the installation of a new cooker and a new microwave.

We have completely stripped out our kitchen and have ordered a new cooker and a new microwave combi  to go into a tall kitchen unit.  It was only after we had the microwave delivered that we realised it was 3.45KW as well.

They arre both rated at 3.45KW ( NEFF C18MT37N0B and NEFF B48CT38N0B), the instruction manual for the microwave says connect using a 16A plug or isolating switch and the cooker says a protective contact socket or isolating switch.

We already have a 6mm cable running to the kitchen from the old cooker we took out,  It will be extremely difficult to run a second 6mm cable.

Is it acceptable to run both appliances from the same 6mm cable with a 16A plug and socket for each appliance  from the same supply ?

Does anyone have any ideas.   Thank you very much.

Shoot me now, only yesterday for the same reason i connected a 3.45kw microwave combi oven on a 13a plug. There were 2 other ovens though (and a coffee maker) in a 4 unit square. I told the customer if the fuse ever does blow i will have to rewire the lot & that will only happen if she uses the oven element in the micro for a prolonged period.

I also wonder what the current draw actually is as i have never seen less than 242 v at the house & the rating is probably measured at 230 ( baring in mind its not just a fixed load heating element).

Ps, i think its the same ovens as yours

Given what you have posted, yes. What are your concerns? Does the installation method allow for a 32A OCPD?

Hi, these are the two sets of instruction from the NEFF online manuals that were asked for, apologies for the delay, I could not paste the directly from the NEFF site I have had to re-type them in.   Thanks.

Is it acceptable to run both appliances from the same 6mm cable with a 16A plug and socket for each appliance  from the same supply ?  Seeing some of the replies it is looking ok, the fuse will be a 32A and only these two items will be on the 6mm circuit.

The appliance must only be connected by a licensed professional.

The installation must have an all-pole isolating switch with a contact gap of at least 3mm. Identify the live and neutral conductors in the mains socket. The appliance may be damaged if it is not connected correctly.

Only connect the hob as shown in the connection diagram. See the rating plate for the voltage. Connect the wires of the mains power cable according to the colour coding: Green/yellow = PE conductor, blue = neutral conductor, brown = live (external conductor).
