Hey everyone, I am glad I have found a nice place here....

I am currently in the slow but exciting transition of changing my life, I am 32 and realised I cannot stay in my current job for ever...

So 2 years ago I started City and Guilds electrical installation, and so far I am getting on pretty well with it.. Just finishing up level 2 and then on to level 3 where hopefully all will fall in to place.

I just wanted to ask some advice / tips on how to go about work, what should I do? and what

Good luck with finding work but unfortunately there are thousands in your situation and at present times are not great in the elecrical industry there are many sparks with no work. Hopefully things may pick up but it is not going to be easy for you to get into the industry. Not sure the best route maybe write letters to local firms or similar. Sorry to put a downer on you but I don't think there is any point in saying things are good when they are not.

Hey,

I share your concerns mate as I'm just at the end of my level 3 and have been sparkying for years, and i'm also struggling to get work.

I do get days here and there but really need full time. Battys right about there been thousands in the same boat, I know lads who have been sparkys all there life and they're struggling.

The best thing you could do is work as a sparky's mate, though the wage won't be cracking. I worked for a JIB company as an adult trainee. When you're at level 3 you should be at 'improver level' but it's just a case of finding a company who'll take you on, especially now the site work has dried up.

Good luck
