I took out an old cooker hood, and I wanted to re use the fan motor for something.

But it was caked in years of cooking grease.

So I pondered what to clean it with. Lets just try what I have to hand.

So the first thing I tried was white spirit.

Absolutely brilliant.  Just soak a rag in white spirit and all the grease just wipes off, no effort.

So next time SWMBO tells you to clean the oven, forget Mr Muscle, forget Cilit Bang, Get the white spirit out.

Probably best to make sure all the fumes have gone before you light the oven, especially if it's gas!!!!!

Many years ago I was sent as a mate to "degrease" three large over head crane winch housings. They were powder blue. He was big on keeping the clients sweet and we'd often do what were nothing more than cleaning jobs. He said "Go to Robert Dyas and buy some white spirit". They had sold out so I figured degreasing....... and saw "Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner". Bought three cans of the foam stuff and coated each machine liberally.

Thought I'd leave it and get some lunch. An hour or so later I came back and the foam was BLUE! It had taken every bit of paint of the things right down to the aluminium casing. The things were now shiny silver.

Thinking I was now in deep sh** I told the client that as I'd been cleaning them the paint was flaking off so much I carried on and before I knew where I was etc.............after all they were old machines! By some miracle he accepted it and gave us the order to repaint them. Downside was that I had to repaint them!

This stuff is superb, Barkeepers Friend:

Suggested to me by a practising alcoholic workmate who knows everything pub related. Wife was a bit sceptical but a convert now. Great for burnt on marks in / on the oven. Particularly good for the inside of stainless steel microwave ovens.

As an aside, WD40 for sticky label residues!

Ive just cleaned the stuck vanes on my cars turbo with Mr Muscle.

Baby oil is good for removing fingerprints from nice new stainless cooker hoods.

The Wife is good for most cleaning purposes, ......well only if it is equine based

She has domestophobia.....a pathological fear of doing anything around the home
Domestophobia eh? Mrs Duck seems to have this in spades. Perhaps I should get her a horse and at least the grass would get a trim once in a while.

Just.. living in domestic bliss :(

@chrisk indeed Mr muscle is great for cleaning turbos :)

Also good for lighting a BBQ which keeps going out, just remember to decant a small amount to a tray to tip on not straight from bottle and to take large steps backwards after tipping it on at arms length
