i can recommend the netgear dgn2200 as i have got 2 setup on ours (one on each line for broadband and find both these routers work faultlessly, the dgn1000 netgear router is a bag of ?:|

OK, so Im gonna bite the bullet,

looking at this , its about the cheapest one there is with a USB port , I use it for my printer and NAS ,

and have my eye on a couple of these on Ebay ,

Im only on bog standard broadband and have no intentions of upgrading as yet, so Im thinking someone on ebay that makes use of all singing dancing stuff could well be offloading something more than adequate for my needs,

I have the 2830Vn here.

I have a wired & wireless linked IP pool, which allows file sharing and fire walled internet access across the allowed computers, these are all MAC locked.

I also have a wireless "guest" network, still hidden and password protected, but it only has internet access, this is not MAC locked.

The two are firewalled apart.

Just in case it helps.

yep, thats what  Ive been looking at,

seems quite a good way of setting it all up,

I can leave the guest network as yours, with certain sites firewalled, and keep my side of it different, also I dont have to worry about anyone else deleting stuff off the NAS, and I should be able to access it remotely and still keep it MAC locked.

my static IP should be on tomorrow, so will get it all sorted then,

prob a load more Qs to come once I get the router,  :)

Draytek have a first class tech support online and phone. I have the 2830N and beats everthing else I've had, did have set up so I could access the Naz from anywhere but I had to login even when on the local network, so scrapped that idea.

Good luck with the new toy when you get it.

new [to me] router arrived today,

downloaded a manual and was just about to print it off,

how many F'kin pages,????!!!!

269.!!!!

that soon went on hold......!!!!!

about a million questions await,

well, a couple of dozen anyway.

How many languages is that written in??????

e.g.

270 pages @ 15 languages =  18 pages

270 pages @ 20 languages = 13.5 pages

270 pages @ 25 languages =  10.8 pages

sometimes these manuals aren't quite as big as what they first appear....

thats what I thought,

but, its all in English,

fair enough, some of the pages arent relevant to my actual router, they are for the more advanced models,

its still a helluva lot of pages.!!!!

I'll just read the .pdf and print off any actual pges I find important.
