I keep seeing adverts for these energy saver  rads  .   I  guess they contain ceramic heat  retaining blocks of some description  so once powered up  they are emitting heat  with the power off  .

Connected to 24 hour supplies .

How efficient are they do you think ?

Have you fitted any ?

Are we talking Fischer?

As far as I can see they are snake oil and demonstrate the power of advertising.

All electric panel heaters are 100% eficcient.  Even the very most basic ones with just a wire element.  Some might have fancy controls to turn them on and off at different times ofdsay and to regulate the temperature with a thermostat.

But peak rate electricity into a panel heater is never going to be a cheap form of heat.

I’m very wary of lot 20 panel heaters, some are too complicated to set up and this means trouble for us installers.

I have a customer who has learning difficulties and she simply can’t cope with the new stuff

There are a couple of panel heaters  on the market now with app control so that’s what I’m going to install next time I’m asked

The ones I heard of are of German design  , I've forgotten the name ,  but I remember something about a new technology  ceramic  core , so I assume it stores heat  so it must be more efficient that a basic  wire element  panel  .    I presume the same applies to the oil filled radiators  , once the oil is hot they switch off on the stat  until the oil cools .

I fitted one (that the customer supplied)  A week later she was begging me to take it out.  It got replaced with an old school one with just a timer and a thermostat that you can still buy on ebay.

That does not make them more efficient.  That just alters over what time they release the heat.

i contacted the manufacturer of the device that I fitted and asked them if they had any products that old people or people with learning difficulties could use and understand

let’s just say they had no suggestion and couldn’t give a toss

 says it all really
